Jugenni, texxi and tout
Objectives: At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• practice primary work of jugenni
• practice primary work of texxi (single stitch)
• practice primary work of tout (small circles).
Requirements
Materials
• Needle - as reqd. • Thread - as reqd.
• Cloth - as reqd. • Thimble - as reqd.
PROCEDURE
TASK 1: Primary work of jugni (any small flower motif)
Selection of thread and needle (Fig 1)

• Fine silk or cotton threads are selected depending on
the color scheme of the shawl.
• A fine Sozni needle is used, which allows for detailed
single and double-sided embroidery.

Filling the stitches as in punjberk (Fig 3)
Filling the motif
• The inner part is filled using Satin Stitch (Zalakdozi)
or Do-Rukha (double-sided stitch) if both sides of the
shawl are to be equally finished.
• Sometimes tiny motifs or dots are filled inside the
